Our nurses offer advice for when you are travelling abroad. You will need collect a travel form for each member of the family travelling from the surgery and make an appointment to see the nurse. We will need at least 6 - 8 weeks notice before you travel. The nurse will go through the form with you and check your immunisation status; she will then recommend a schedule of vaccinations if necessary. (Vaccines have to be ordered in as they are not a stock item).
Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge or incur a charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS; you will be advised at your appointment of these costs.
We highly recommend that you find out more about the region you are travelling to, in particular read carefully what the links below recommend about:
WATER; FOOD; INSECT BITES; ANIMAL BITES; TRAVELLERS DIARRHOEA; HEPATITIS B & HIV INFECTION; INSURANCE; AIR TRAVEL; SUN AND HEAT;
